麻省理工最看重申请人的人格/个人性质(Character/Personal Qualities), 卡梅最看重高中课程难度,班上排名,高中成绩,标化考试成绩,课外活动,志愿者工作,工作经验.在这些基础上再看学生是不是女性申请人.所以光是性别站在优惠政策上不够.需要整体准备的好.必须在总体指标跟男性竞争对手在伯仲之间或者比男性竞争对手差距不大, 女性申请人才能脱颖而出.
男性学生申请文科的优势是大部分中国男学生申请理工科,因此招生官会多考虑录取.但是前提是申请人跟其他录取同学差距不大.
假如女同学是初三高一阶段对理工科有兴趣,建议规划参加美国数学比赛AMC, 美国物理碗, 国际基因工程机器竞赛iGEM(International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition),国际脑神经科学大赛(International Brain Bee),丘成桐中学科学奖之类型比赛,提升申请竞争力.
