杜伦又再放大招
Greetings from Durham
As we come to the end of the current recruitment year, I would like to send our thanks to you and your staff for all of your support throughout 2018. We are looking forward to mutually beneficial 2018 intake and a fruitful 2019 ahead.
In preparation for the next recruitment cycle, I have attached a copy of Durham’s entry requirements for Mainland Chinese students (2019 intake). In this document, there are a few points I need to bring to your attention;
- The list of Chinese universities has been updated, using the Shanghai Jiatong Rankings - Top 200 Chinese Universities Rankings - Overall Ranking (2018). We have also included select Project 211 and 985 institutions.
- The full list of approved institutions applies to all programmes at Durham University, with the exception of Durham University Business School (DUBS) postgraduate taught programmes
- You will see a separate column of entry grades and approved institutions for DUBS postgraduate programmes – please note that this column only applies to DUBS PGT programmes. DUBS undergraduate programmes will be considered the same as all other undergraduate programmes across the University i.e. an undergraduate business-related applicant with one year of study at any of the listed Chinese institutions, can be considered if they have achieved the requisite grades
- Admissions teams will be working strictly to this new list, so it is important that your counselling staff only refer applications that meet our criteria. This will avoid wasting time on your and our part, and application fees (where applicable) on the student’s part. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
When reviewing the list of approved institutions you may notice that there are a number of top 50 ranked Chinese universities that DUBS are not considering this year. Marketing staff at DUBS have provided the following statement, to explain the rationale for their decision;
“Durham University Business School have made a strategic decision to amend the list of institutions for 2019 entry. We are looking for the highest calibre applicants for our Postgraduate Taught programmes from across China and have revised the list in order to achieve this aim. We are prepared to consider applications from lower ranked intuitions as they have previously provided us with good quality applicants and have demonstrated good conversion from application to acceptance. In some cases we have received high volumes of applications from higher ranked institutions that have been removed from the list, as they have not consistently demonstrated the quality that we are seeking.”
Durham will open for new (2019) postgraduate applications on the 1st October 2018.
There is a final piece of good news. DUBS will be dropping their application deadline of the 31st January for Mainland Chinese students for the 2019 intake.
Please can I ask you to circulate this message and attachment to branch offices and frontline counselling staff as appropriate.
Best Wishes
David
