副学士学位（Associate Degree）
学生读完两年制社区大学所得到学位。这种课程一般由两年制的“社区学院”提供。学生完成两年的学习后，成绩合格后获得“副学士学位”，如果学生想获得学士学位，也可以转到综合性大学继续攻读接下来的两年课程，课程完毕后获得学士学位。
学士学位（Bachelor Degree）
学士学位一般分为文学学士(Bachelor of Arts)和理学学士(Bachelor of Sciences)，在学生完成四年本科学位课程的学业以后颁发。在前两年学习期间，学生需要学习普通学科领域的一些必修课程，第二年结束后选择一门(或两门)专业课，接下来的两年时间主要攻读专业必需课程。
