Admissions Live Chats: Did you know that we have weekly live chats with admissions every Friday? The last one this summer will be on Friday 12th August (they will resume again in September). These normally take place on Friday from 3pm-5pm. There will however be a special extended version of the Undergraduate Admissions Live chat on Friday 12 August from 2pm-5pm, to give prospective students a chance to ask questions about the clearing and adjustment process the week before A-level results. Please send this link to your students to register for this event: https://kings.online-event.co/invitation/admission-live-chat-friday-12-august
Accommodation Live Chats: Did you know that every Thursday (alternating weekly between UG and PG) from 12pm-4pm the Accommodation team has been online to answer questions? Now King’s Residences have their own live chat function on their webpages, so for the time being they will no longer be running these weekly events on the virtual fair platform. Please send this link to your students: http://www.kcl.ac.uk/study/accommodation/index.aspx
International Student Blog: To gain an insight into life as an international student at King’s, follow the International Student Blog, which will cover a wide range of issues from settling into the UK and adapting to the British higher education system to exploring the UK and the food in London! Please disseminate this blog to any prospective King’s students.
Advice on a variety of topics such as student visas, opening a bank account in the UK and police registration can be found on the King’s Student Advice webpages at the following link: http://www.kcl.ac.uk/campuslife/services/student-advice-support/AGs/index.aspx
Study on safety of prescribing fewer antibiotics: A new study by King’s Division of Health and Social Care Research has found that reducing antibiotic prescribing for respiratory tract infections - such as coughs, colds, sore throats and ear infections - is not linked to an increase in the most serious bacterial complications, such as bacterial meningitis. The study, published in the BMJ, investigated whether reducing antibiotic prescribing for people attending their GP with respiratory tract infections could have an effect on safety. The widespread inappropriate use of antibiotics is contributing to the development of strains of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.
