CITY 大学新生报到指南: Welcome to City University London - Cohort of 2016!
Dear Student,
Welcome to City University London. Congratulations on your offer of a place in one of our Masters courses. We are delighted that you are considering to study in the School of Arts and Social Sciences and we are sure that if you go ahead with this decision, you will have an exciting, productive and interesting time whilst you study in the heart of the City of London - #londonisopen! However the start of the academic year is fast approaching and spaces are now limited, so in order to avoid disappointment, if you have not yet contacted us please get in touch to guarantee your place now. To confirm it, a deposit payment is required, as stated on your offer letter.
If you have already contacted us and paid your deposit, your place is guaranteed - please find below and attached updates regarding our induction week and programme details.
As mentioned previously, in the interests of helping the environment, we have moved away from paper induction packs and we are sending all induction information electronically. You will find attached the induction timetable for all students, including the ones attending the MA Culture, Policy& Management programme. The attached updated schedule will show you what you need to know about induction and registration week and which events you are required to attend to familiarise yourself with the courses and services we offer, starting on 19 September 2016.
At the end of this email you will find a link to the Term Dates for the 2016/7 Academic Year and timetable and information from the Student Centre. The Student Centre, located on the second floor of the University building in Northampton Square, provides a range of excellent support services for students, including guidance on:
- Tier 4 Visas (email visaadvice@city.ac.uk) – NOTE: International students must complete their deposit payment to receive their CAS.
- Housing (email accomm@city.ac.uk) and
- Finance (email funding@city.ac.uk).
During the induction talks on 19 September, you will also be told about our Health and Counselling Services, Library Services, Learning Support and Careers Services, which will hopefully help you to make the most of your time with us.
Module choice forms and details of each module you can study as part of your course will be available online in our virtual learning environment, Moodle, during induction week. In order to gain access to Moodle, you must complete your registration in person on 21 September. Your course director will guide through your module choices beforehand in the In-depth session on 20 September, so you can make an informed decision. Modules will become available in our virtual learning environment, Moodle, after submission of the choice form, providing you are fully registered. Part-time students go through the same process. However, they take the same number of modules over two years, normally one to two modules per term.

You can use the attached guide to navigate the site; also don’t forget to consult the attached programme specifications so you know which modules are compulsory and which you can choose, to begin building your year schedule.

IMPORTANT - Please remember to bring the certificate you are asked to print when you complete your online registration (our Registry will send an email invitation to all relevant students soon) and bring your passport along to in-person registration in order to collect your student ID card. Once you are fully registered you can then obtain letters from our Student Centre to register with banks, GPs, council tax and accommodation.
If you still have any questions, please let us know and we will be happy to help. See you in September!
Warm regards,
