As globalization brings people closer together and everything interwoven, for the realm of architecture, the notion of seeing it as an isolated discipline is completely disconnected from reality, and the question of how to achieve interdisciplinary collaboration in architectural design is what will determine the trajectory of the field in the years to come. What are some of the ways in which we understand the idea of interdisciplinarity? How can we successfully collaborate across disciplinary boundaries? If the field of architecture does not collaborate with those in other professions to form a larger ecological circle, the field will be devoid of agency and influence.
For instance, in a design project during my sophomore year, I was more skilled in the spatial design and layout of memorial gardens because of my expertise in landscape design, but the design of memorials prompted me to look for structural design, architectural design, and even industrial interaction knowledge in the representation of memorial scenes. It was then I began to realize that as society develops, people's aesthetics and need for design grows, and that in order for us designers to convert our design ideas into reality, we must be able to integrate multidisciplinary knowledge.
