环境科学专业分类
环境科学是以人类生存环境为自己的研究对象的一门学科。是一门研究人类社会发展活动与环境演化规律之间相互作用关系，寻求人类社会与环境协同演化、持续发展途径与方法的的科学。着重研究和探索全球范围内的环境演化规律；人类活动与自然生态之间的关系；环境变化对人类生存的影响；以及区域环境污染的防治技术和管理措施。
环境科学的学生毕业后主要走科研方向，专业分支有：环境化学、环境生物学、环境规划与管理三个方向。具体学科有：环境地学，环境生物学，环境化学，环境物理学，环境医学，环境工程学，环境管理，环境经济学，环境法学 。
英国环境科学专业优势
l 英国一向是修读环境科学的热门国家，因为它们在推行保护环境项目方面均做得非常出色。数据显示，环境相关单位的人才缺口相当大，对这个行业而言，就业范围既广，人才需求量也大，国家政策也支持。
l 英国的教育硕士的课程设置非常灵活，学生可以根据自己的兴趣爱好和将来的发展方向来自己选择专业领域和相应科目，使得学生们可以有的放矢;
l 再加上英国的学制比较短，使得在众多留学国家中，在英国获取该专业硕士学位的优势脱颖而出。
环境科学就业方向
现代城市都很重视城市环境和市政建设，投入也很多，环境工程系列专业前景广阔,就业面广,既可到城市规划院,建筑院,市政设计院从事设计工作,又可到环保局从事管理工作,还可到环境监测部门从事监测和研究工作，例如：
Ø 给排水工程师——专门从事给排水设计工作。
Ø 项目经理——进行污水处理厂等设施施工的组织、管理、技术指导及监督工作。
Ø 环境工程师——到环保局和环保所进行环境管理和研究工作。
环境科学专业学生毕业后，除少数人进入研究生层次继续深造之外，毕业后主要从事环境保护方面的研究工作。大多数人进入各级环境理论研究机构和生产部门担当研究或咨询人员。在大气、海洋、交通、工业、农业、医学、军事等领域均有广泛分布，在对污染治理、环境规划、人口问题等重大课题上发挥骨干作用。其工作性质涉及学科体系的理论研究、生产生活中的实际运用等方面。
研究人员——从事环境科学研究、环境监测、评价、管理和规划等工作。
环境工程师——从事环保产品的开发，或进行环境工程和给水排水工程的规划、设计和管理;
教师——担任大中专学校相应专业的教师;
公务员——在中央和地方、各工业部委的环境科学研究部门工作。
