Prescreening requirements
All graduate and diploma applicants must submit prescreen recordings by December 1.Video recording of an audition program meeting the repertoire requirements listed below.
You must also submit a complete repertoire list of all works performed or studied at the time of application.
All pieces must be presented from memory.
Video recordings must be unedited and produced without artificial enhancement such as echo or electronic reverb. Performance piano must also be of adequate quality and in tune.

Audition requirements
Select applicants will be invited to a live audition based on prescreening review. If you are invited, you will be scheduled for one of the following audition dates and will receive your schedule by email 3-4 weeks prior to your audition:
- January 30 - 31, 2026
- February 13, 14, & 15, 2026
- February 27 - 28, 2026
Audition repertoire requirements are the same as the prescreening repertoire requirements and are listed below.
If you wish to be considered for an Associate Instructor position, you must perform a live audition and indicate "yes" for interest in a Piano AI position on the Jacobs School of Music Supplemental Application. If invited for a live audition, you will also be scheduled for an AI interview with the faculty. The AI interview explores your pedagogical background and readiness to teach in English.

若申请助教职位（Associate Instructor）：
必须参加现场试演，并在Jacobs音乐学院补充申请中勾选“有意申请钢琴助教”。
获邀者还需参加教研组的助教面试，评估教学背景及英语授课能力。
Repertoire requirements

Prepare an audition program of substantial scope and length including works from at least three differing stylistic periods, presented in their entirety.
All pieces must be presented from memory.

Special Circumstances
If you are unable to attend one of the live audition weekends, you may request to have an adhoc audition or select the recorded audition option. You should prepare the audition repertoire requirements listed on this page.
Note: Doctoral applicants must perform a live on-campus audition for consideration during the offered DM audition dates.
For applicants who cannot make one of the audition weekends but would like to audition in person, an ad hoc audition may be arranged upon department approval. Please email musicadm@iu.edu to request an ad hoc audition. If approved, you must reach out to the faculty or department chair directly to arrange a date and time. All required application materials must be submitted by the deadline in order for arrangements to be made.
