9月27日，山东大学在中心校区举行2025年开学典礼。现场突降大雨，山大校长李术才在近20分钟的发言中，两次婉拒师生送来的雨伞，并豪情吟诵诗句：莫听穿林打叶声，何妨吟啸且徐行。
During the 2025 opening ceremony of Shandong University, an unexpected downpour did little to dampen the spirits of attendees, as Li Shucai, the university's president, delivered an inspiring address in the rain, refusing shelter and reciting classical poetry to uplift the crowd.In a nearly 20-minute speech, Li twice declined umbrellas offered by faculty and students. He passionately recited a line from a well-known poem by Su Shi: "Listen not to the rain beating against the trees. Why don't you slowly walk and chant at ease?"
李术才表示，想要与在座的同学们达成一个约定，力争与每一个同学有一次面对面交流的机会。“共淋一场雨、共读一本经典、共赴一场奔跑、共攀一座高峰、共喝一次咖啡、共话一次成长。”
Li expressed his desire to form a special bond with the students, proposing what he called "six shared experiences": getting drenched in the same rain, reading a classic together, joining a run, climbing a peak, sharing a cup of coffee, and engaging in meaningful conversations about personal growth.
同学们现场录的视频显示，李校长对大家说：在山大，学科无边界、校企无边界、知行无边界，不论同学们起点高低，人人皆可成才。
"At Shandong University, there are no boundaries between disciplines, between academia and industry, or between knowledge and action," he told the audience. "Regardless of your starting point, everyone can achieve excellence."Videos of the speech, widely shared online, captured the heartfelt moment and resonated deeply among the campus' community.
当日，山东大学一名研究生在接受极目新闻采访时表示，校长平时就和同学很亲近，之前还和同学们一起跑3000米，跑得比学生都快。这位同学还说，李术才校长名字中“术才”二字同“蔬菜”谐音，因此同学们亲切地称呼他为“蔬菜校长”，大家都觉得他很可爱，都非常喜欢他。
A graduate student, interviewed by Jimu News, remarked that Li has always been approachable. "He once joined students in a 3,000-meter run and even outpaced many of us," the student shared.
Affectionately nicknamed "vegetable president” by students — a playful homophone of his given name "Shucai" — Li is widely regarded as amiable and well-loved. "We all find him very endearing," the student added.
公开资料显示，李术才，1965年12月23日出生于河北省保定市涞水县，他是第二十届中央候补委员，中国工程院院士，山东大学校长（副部长级）、党委副书记。
