Exhibitionsaretheheartofmuseumpractice.Theyarethree-dimensionalexperiencesdesignedtoengage,inspire,andcommunicatewithdiversegroupsofvisitorsfromallovertheworld.Tothisend,theprofessionalswhoplan,designandexecutemuseumexhibitionsmustbediverseintheirthinkingandskillsets.ForthisreasontheMuseumExhibitionPlanning&Design(MEPD)programseekstoacceptstudentswithvariedbackgroundsanddoesnotlimitonlytothedesignfields.TheMEPDprogrampreparesgraduatestoexcelintheplanning,contentdevelopmentanddesignprocessesimplementedbyprofessionalsinthefieldofmuseumexhibitioncreation-fromthefirstsparkofanideathroughresearch,prototyping,design,documentation,construction,exhibitopeningtopost-openingevaluationandbeyond.Thecurriculumemphasizesconceptssuchasspatialsociology,colortheory,educationtheoryandsensoryperceptionascommunicationtools,aswellasdrawing,building,computerskills,documentationandbuildingtechniques.Studentsalsogainexperienceincriticalanalysis/synthesisandprofessional-levelwrittenandoralpresentations.
