Something happened(Experience)
回忆这十多年来一个曾发生在你身上的事情(不平凡的或是出乎意料的),这段经历可以是一个具体的事件抑或是某个特殊的时刻;
Relate to your qualities & characteristics
和自身的性格特质相关联,如善于分析,贵在坚持,抑或真诚有责任感,数一数自己的标签都有什么;
What did you learn?
I was insanely fascinated by our pet dog Tony's bed and addicted to placing myself into it.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to?" Mom cautioned with a resigned expression, "that pet bed is not for sitting!"
"But Tony seems to enjoy it…I would like to try it too."
"I know how much you like Tony, but the bed is not meant for human to squeeze into. Besides, there are germs." Mom continued.
The temptation swiftly sets aside my fear of germs and it was funny how I replied my mom that I would rather be a dog.
Even though my parents would draw me away from my temporary enjoyment - fitting into the little jacinth bed; but, I will always find the little bed tempting and have the tendency of trying to fit into it again.
Pet treatment seems to surpass ours, I thought. It bothers me why Tony could spend his whole afternoon resting in the comfort of his bed while I am not supposed to. Quietly, I attempted it once again. Fitting-in comfortably is a challenge at the beginning. First attempt involved an awkward position that was not fun for anyone's back. It hurts because the bed was situated too close to the wall leaving zero leg room. But as soon as I positioned myself properly and fitting in nicely into its shape, it felt good. Sitting cross-legged and resting on its raised cushion simply gels me into the soft fabric. I remember being able to position almost at the same eye level as Tony which made it more fun. He was equally excited - running, jumping, and licking.
This brief illustration of my home pet experience mirrors what I eventually experienced while schooling. I come to realize how changing or transitioning from one school (Beijing's Local Chinese School) to another (Canadian International School) involves more or less the same level of obstacles and challenges. Posed with language barriers, isolation and the sudden disappearance of old friends at the initial phase can be daunting. Sharpening my English was an uphill task, embarrassing initially. However, with persistence and determination like the case of Tony's bed, I eventually succeeded in performing outstandingly in my school exams; earning me Academic Scholarships two years in a row. Like all else, the enjoyment of success simply motivates me. I enjoy my language classes and would always look forward to keeping good attendance. Among others, simple life experiences have trained me to be consistent and remain focused. The idea is not to be constraint by trivial things, but instead focus at the bigger picture. There should always be a strong sense of wanting to achieve when tossed with surprises.
Rapid pace of modern living will require some level of relaxation and time to cheer just like the small pet bed perfectly placed at the corner under the soothing warm beam of ray. It was a special moment. The quietness and peace satisfied me and my company. Moist and warm air touched my skin softly as Tony breathed in and out. The pace of my breath followed his, and his followed mine. A time when I was happy to have forgotten being human and instead being in Tony's world. I cherish the time when I could allow my imagination to alternate. It was fun yet educational at the same time.
