 什么是TESOL？

       TESOL是指对说其他语言的人的英语教学。英语是全球使用人数第二多的语言，而且英语教师的需求量正在与日俱增。

       关于就业方面，我们邀请客座教授前来为学生讲课、开设研讨会，并开展“我的TESOL事业”研讨会，指导学生如何写简历以及如何掌握面试技巧。我们也会邀请已经毕业的校友前来分享他们的职业生涯的点滴，让学生们了解到自己即将面临的是越来越多的就业机会。

  TESOL专业有哪些“分枝”？

       我们开设的“分枝”课程是为了使学生更专注于所选择的领域。TESOL专业的课程选择非常灵活，通常都适合没有教学经验的学生。有教学经验的学生或者想在相关领域进一步学习的学生一般会选择 TESOL计算机辅助语言教学硕士课程或者TESOL应用语言学硕士课程。

       除了这些分枝，2017年斯特灵还引入了两个新的课程：管理和英语语言教学硕士课程以及教育学和TESOL。

       TESOL项目任何专业的学生都可以申请当地、欧洲以及国际范围我们提供的实习机会。

斯特灵TESOL专业可以网上学习吗？

       可以的。我们考虑到硕士学生的个人情况因人而异，一些学生希望半工半读，以便资助自己或者家庭。我们的网上学习课程可以使学生灵活的在家里学习。通过两年半的学习，网上学习的学生能和在校学习的学生收获同样的知识。同时，网上学习的学生也可以在校园内学习并参与课堂。另外，所有学生都享有同样的实习机会。

学习TESOL课程，我需要有教学经验吗？

       不需要。课程就是为没有教学经验的学生设置的。当然也适用于持有证书的有教学经验的人，如：英国剑桥大学教师证书 （Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults）。

作为TESOL 专业的毕业生，有哪些就业机会可供选择？

       TESOL专业毕业生可以在幼儿园、小学、高中进行教学，也可以在大学进行授课。我们已经毕业的校友中，有的在英国、欧洲和亚洲的私立语言学校担任教学主管，有的去做了教师培训和考核相关的工作。

WHAT IS TESOL?

TESOL is Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. English is the second most widely spoken language in the world and there is an ever-increasing demand for people who are willing and able to teach the language.

Our Masters courses at Stirling provide an advanced training and professional qualification, not only for people presently engaged in teaching English as a foreign or second language, but also for people who are new to TESOL and may be looking for a career change or professional development. Our programmes are suitable for novice and experienced teachers alike, and provide students with the skills, confidence and knowledge to walk into a classroom and teach as soon as they have graduated.

STIRLING IS RANKED 1ST IN SCOTLAND FOR EDUCATION. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR STUDENTS?

TESOL at Stirling delivers the most up-to-date, cutting-edge teaching to our students. We draw upon our world-leading research in a number of different areas within education, and our professional knowledge spans across pedagogy, applied linguistics, computer assisted language learning and corpus linguistics. We supervise a diverse range of dissertations which, over the last three years, has resulted in some of our students receiving a national commendation from the British Council.

As part of our commitment to employability, we invite guest speakers to provide lectures and workshops for our students, and offer ‘My Career in TESOL’ sessions which provide input on writing a curriculum vitae (CV), and interview skills. Former TESOL students are also invited to talk about their career journeys and reinforce the variety of opportunities that are open to our graduates.

WHAT ARE TESOL COURSE ‘PATHWAYS’?

We offer ‘pathways’as a dedicated route of study that incorporates a more focused and specialized approach to your chosen subject. The MSc in TESOL provides the most flexible choice of modules and is generally for students with little or no teaching experience. The MSc in TESOL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) or the MSc in TESOL (Applied Linguistics) options are normally chosen by students who have experience of teaching and want to develop their skills in one of those areas.

In addition to these pathways, in 2017 Stirling introduced two new courses: the MSc in Management and English Language Teaching and the MSc in Education Studies and TESOL. Students who follow any of the TESOL programmes are eligible to apply for the local, European and international placements we offer.

DOES STIRLING OFFER AN ONLINE LEARNING OPTION FOR TESOL?

Yes. We recognize that as postgraduate students, everyone’s circumstances are different. Some students may wish to continue working while studying for their degree in order to fund their education or to continue to support their family.

Our online course provides students with the flexibility to studying from home. Over two and a half years, students gain the same learning and teaching as the face-to-face programme. Online students also have the option to spend time on campus should they wish and attend lectures. In addition, students will still have placement opportunities to enhance their employability.

DO I NEED TO HAVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING EXPERIENCE TO STUDY THE MSC IN TESOL?

No, the programme is designed to meet the needs of students who have never taught before or are new to English language teaching. Equally, it is also for those who have many years of experience and who may hold CELTAs or DELTAs.

AS A TESOL GRADUATE, WHAT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE?

Graduates in TESOL can be found teaching in nursery, primary and senior high schools, and lecturing in colleges and universities both home and overseas. Some of our Stirling alumni are now Directors of Study in private language schools in the UK, Europe and Asia, while others can moved into teacher training and examing.
