海洋相关专业介绍
海洋科学（Oceanography）
是研究海洋的自然现象、变化规律及其与大气圈、岩石圈、生物圈的相互作用以及开发、利用、保护海洋有关的知识体系。
海洋科学是地球科学的重要组成部分，它与物理学（海水运动、潮汐、海流、声光电传播等）、化学（化学元素、地质构造、介质交换等)、生物学(鱼类、藻类、生态系统等）、地质学以及大气科学、水文科学等密切相关。海洋科学的研究领域十分广泛，其主要内容包括对于海洋中的物理、化学、生物和地质过程的基础研究，和面向海洋资源开发利用以及海上军事活动等的应用研究。
海洋生态系统（Marine Ecosystems）
海洋中由生物群落及其环境相互作用所构成的自然系统，生态系(Ecosystem)一词，系英国A.G.坦斯利于1935年提出。
海洋地球科学（The Marine Geosciences (MGS)）
侧重海洋内及周围的地球系统的地质学，地球物理，地球化学。
海洋工程 （Ocean Engineering）
以开发、利用、保护、恢复海洋资源为目的，并且工程主体位于海岸线向海一侧的新建、改建、扩建工程。一般认为海洋工程的主要内容可分为资源开发技术与装备设施技术两大部分。
海洋生物学 （Marine Biology）
研究海洋中生命现象、过程 及其规律的科学。这是一门综合性交叉学科，主要包括海洋有机体的功能，海洋生物多样性和生态三个方面的内容。它是研究海洋中生命有机体的起源，分布，形态和结构，进化与演替的特征和生物生命过程的活动规律；探索海洋生物之间和生物与其所处的海洋环境之间的相互作用和相互影响的科学。
学位介绍
海洋相关的学位有:
Master of Science 和Doctor of Philosophy
科研导向，要求完成论文。
Master of Professional Science (MPS)
职业导向，完成要求的课程学分达到毕业要求，没有论文要求。
专业背景
由于海洋类专业是小众专业，一般申请该类专业的学生背景多为海洋类，如海洋工程，船舶与海洋工程。申请工程类的学生比较多。
硬件条件
多数学校要求申请者的GPA达到3.0 以上。
专业排名好的学生对托福要求依然很高，如 MIT和华盛顿大学西雅图分校要求托福100分以上。请者需要提交GRE成绩
软件条件
建议学生多根据自己的兴趣方向多参加科研，并尽可能地发表论文，提升自己的申请竞争力。
