Can the TOEFL requirement be waived?
A valid TOEFL score is required unless the applicant has an undergraduate degree from a program where English is the medium of instruction or the applicant has lived in an English-speaking country for four or more years.

May I waive the TOEFL? How do I do so?
If you received a degree (undergraduate or graduate) from an English-speaking institution, then you are not required to take/submit the TOEFL. There is no formal TOEFL waiver process. Instead, please enter “0” for the test scores, a dummy date for the test date (e.g. 01/01/1900) and upload a document stating “TOEFL waived due to the receipt of a degree from an English-speaking institution” for the score report.
Brandies University
If you are an international applicant your application must also include an official score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or IELTS, unless your native language is English, or you have studied four years for an undergraduate degree (or two years for a graduate degree) at an institution in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Singapore, Australia or New Zealand. For TOEFL score of 100 on IBT is usually required, IELTS a score of 7.0 is required. An official English translation of academic documents is also required.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), IELTS or Pearson Test of English (PTE) will be waived only for candidates who have earned a university degree in an English-speaking country—not just an English-speaking institution—or those who have lived and worked in an English-speaking country for the past two or more years. We will also accept the IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

If you did not earn an undergraduate degree from a school in which the primary language of instruction is English, you must have a valid TOEFL, IELTS or PTE score directly submitted to the admissions office.
This language proficiency requirement is waived for international applicants holding non-technical master's degrees or non-technical doctorates from colleges or universities where the primary language of instruction is English.
Scores are valid for 2 years.
The test must be taken well in advance of your application round deadline, as it may take up to four weeks for scores to reach Fuqua.
Lehigh University
If an applicant has completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree or at least 2 years of full-time post-secondary education in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia or Canada, he or she may be exempt from the TOEFL. The applicant is not exempt if the language of instruction is English in a non-English speaking country or if you have lived in an English-speaking country. Information on the TOEFL may be found at

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
The TOEFL/IELTS requirement may be waived if the applicant is currently enrolled in full-time studies in the United States and will have completed two academic years of coursework in the United States immediately prior to enrolling at Rensselaer. The TOEFL requirement may also be waived for applicants who will complete and be awarded a master’s degree in less than two years of U.S. study immediately prior to the intended entrance term.
