The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world's top universities in individual subject areas, covering 48 subjects as of 2020. Each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources. These four components, reflecting academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and h-index, are combined to produce the results for each of the subject rankings, with weightings adapted for each discipline.

The overall Best Global Universities rankings by US News & World Report encompass top institutions spread out more than 80 countries. The rankings incorporate data from Clarivate Analytics InCites, and results are based on 13 indicators that measure the academic research performance and global and regional reputations of the institutions.
