Which degrees are being offered at Waikato’s China Learning Centre?
We are offering the first year of our Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Science through the China Learning Centre.
What will it be like studying at your China Learning Centre?
While you study in our China Learning Centre, you will be taught face-to-face by University of Waikato and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) academics and will study the same papers as students in New Zealand.
The programme will be delivered in English. There is no online component.
Who can study at our China Learning Centre?
It is only available to Chinese students living in China who cannot enter New Zealand due to current border restrictions.
Tell me about Shanghai International Studies University (SISU)
SISU is a long-standing, trusted teaching partner of the University of Waikato, based in Songjiang, Shanghai. You will study alongside SISU students who are part of an existing Waikato programme at SISU.
You will be able to use the facilities at SISU, including the library, gymnasium, sport facilities and student cafeteria.
Will I study with SISU students?
Yes, you will be in the same classroom with students who are part of the existing Waikato programme, but you will be enrolled as a University of Waikato student.
What are the fees?
The fees for each degree are:
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Sciences: NZ$20,730 (two semesters / 120 points)
- Bachelor of Business: NZ$24,212 (two semesters / 120 points).
You will pay the tuition fees to the University. When you transfer to New Zealand, the tuition fee for subsequent years will be our NZ campus fee.
Do I study part time or full time?
You will study full time.
What majors are available?
There are a limited number of degree level papers available at our China Learning Centre however when you transfer to study in New Zealand, you will be able to progress to most majors and complete your study in the standard programme duration.
