计算机科学是一门包含各种各样与计算和信息处理相关主题的系统学科，从抽象的算法分析、形式化语法等等，到更具体的主题如编程语言、程序设计、软件和硬件等。计算机科学分为理论计算机科学和实验计算机科学两个部分。在数学文献中所说的计算机科学，一般是指理论计算机科学。实验计算机科学还包括有关开辟计算机新的应用领域的研究。

入学要求：The MSc in Computer Science programme is intended for graduates without a Computer Science first degree, but with a honours degree in a subject with some appropriate mathematical or scientific content. Relevant work experience will also be taken into consideration. With respect to applicants who have computing related BSc honours degrees, but where those degrees provide only partial coverage of the content and/or do not achieve the standard of a UK computer science BSc degree such applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis and an appropriate selection of modules identified。
