You may have students who have applied for Master of Professional Engineering or the Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated course in 2021. Today we will be contacting all applicants to advise them of some changes to the program. As part of the Faculty of Engineering’s continual effort to improve our academic offering, and in consultation with industry and students, we are making some changes to the Master of Professional Engineering and the Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated.
What is changing?
Taking effect from Semester 1, 2021, we are changing some of the entry requirements for the Master of Professional Engineering and the Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated to bring them in line with the Master of Engineering.
The revised entry requirements for the Master of Professional Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated include the following two changes.
1. The Australian GPA required for entry has been changed to 65%. For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution, and qualification (as per standard admission practices).
2. The English language requirements have also been amended to be in line with the Master of Engineering:
- IELTS score
- A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
- TOEFL – IBT Score
- A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
- Pearson’s Test of English
- A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
Find out if you need to prove English language proficiency (depends on your country of origin and educational background).
Please note that all other entry requirements for the Master of Professional Engineering and the Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated remain the same, and the full admission criteria can be found on the course pages.
Why are we changing?
These changes to our Master of Professional Engineering / Master of Professional Engineering Accelerated have been made in response to feedback from industry and students, and to also align with the majority of our other Masters-level courses that have similar entry requirements.
What does this mean to your students?
- If they have received an unconditional offer, their offer will remain unchanged.
- If they have received a conditional offer, we will review their application and update their condition as per the new course requirement.
- If they have not received your admissions outcome, their application will be assessed as per the new course requirement.
