Since I was in senior high school, I’ve had great passion for both programming and finance. When I first met programming in computer class, I was deeply fascinated by the fact that such extensive use and spectacular speed could be achieved by simply combining basic instructions together, and felt that programming is like the supercar of my mind, enabling me to solve problems millions of times more complicated than I could reach. Meanwhile, I’ve always been desperately bothered by all kinds of uncertainties in my life and the bad luck that usually follows, and it was finance that showed me the possibility to get rid of them — through many financial concepts, such as hedging, portfolio and financial derivatives, I sensed the same character: spreading the risk and ensuring one’s benefit with information and strategies, which I think is the key against uncertainties and bad luck, my worst concerns in my life. Regarding my strong eager to include both of these subjects into my future career, I believe financial mathematics would be an ideal track for me.
