美国大学研究生暑研申请介绍（二）-新东方前途出国

iSURE：

全称是International Summer Undergraduate Research Experience国际暑期本科生研究项目，由圣母大学（USNEWS排名TOP20）。学生将获得宝贵的实践经验，和接触现实生活中的科学问题解决，和圣母大学的教师和研究生密切合作并参与尖端研究。 项目时长是8周，有两个开始时间，一个是5月底，另一个是7月初（仅招收中国学生）。

 

背景要求：

Ÿ   Must be age 18 or older when attending iSURE

Ÿ   Minimum GPA 3.0

Ÿ   Minimum TOEFL iBT "My Best Score" 80+ or IELTS 6+ . TOEFL iBT and IELTS can be waived if the language of instruction of applicant's current school is English. Other forms of English proficiency considered on a case by case basis. Phone interviews may be conducted to further evaluate applicant's English. 

Ÿ   Strong interest in scientific research and some level of undergraduate research experience prefered 

Ÿ   Exceptional motivation, emotional maturity, and a high aptitude for adapting to new environment

Important Dates and Deadlines

• December 6, 2019: Online application opens. 

• January 31, 2020: Application deadline (Faculty will review the application AFTER this      deadline. Applying later does not decrease your chance for admission.)    

• February 28, 2020:  Rolling decisions start. (Rolling decisions mean that admitted      students are being notified as professors make their decisions. Some professors may take more time to review, so some students applied for their projects will know their decisions late.)      

• April 30, 2020: Visa documents issued and mailed to admitted students.

Note: Upon being admitted to the iSURE program, students will be notified of their faculty mentor's name and contact info at the University of Notre Dame and when to contact the faculty. All applicants are advised not to contact the faculty before receiving admission to ensure the fairness of the selection process. We reserve the right to withdraw any applicant from the program for this reason.

Step 1: Create Your Account with NDAbroad Portal

Click the “Apply Now” button, and you will be asked to create an account with NDAbroad portal. A password reset email will then be sent to you. Please log in to the system after you reset your password (always click Non-ND NetID when log in) and select the iSURE program to be directed to the correct application page.

Step 2: Pay the Non-refundable iSURE Application Fee of $50 

On the iSURE Program Application Page, you will see a link of Make Program Payment under the Learning Content section. Click here to make the payment by credit card. Other payment methods not accepted. Once paid, a payment confirmation page will pop up and please record the 6-digit System Tracking ID on this page (for example, 680982) and save this number for the next step. You will also receive an email with this information. 

Please note that all iSURE related payments (application fee and program fee) should be submitted with credit cards. The credit card does not have to be under the applicant’s name.

Step 3: Complete and Submit the iSURE Questionnaire

Return to the iSURE Program Application Page, and click the iSURE application questionnaire to start your application.

The first question will ask you to input your 6-digit System Tracking ID for the iSURE application fee.  

Application Materials Needed for Online Application

• A clear photo copy of  the passport information page  

• English transcripts  of all your completed college courses. Transcripts without English      translation, or unreadable/blurry transcript images will not be  accepted.     

• Copy of TOEFL iBT or IELTS result. Please only upload the first page with scores. Additional      pages for score explanation are not accepted.

• Resume/CV

• Essay describing your interests in the research projects you are applying for

项目费用：

$5000, which covers the following:

• Housing on campus for the duration of the program

• Meal plan of three meals per day at buffet style campus dining halls

• Notre Dame student health insurance 

• Day trip to Chicago

• Closing reception with participating faculty

• Other program-sponsored activities

Visa application fees, airfare, and airport transportation are the applicant’s responsibility. The University of Notre Dame will issue program acceptance letters as required for visa applications. In addition, all students should bring money to cover personal expenses such as laundry, phone, shopping, activities outside of the program, food, etc.

Please note: Only credit card payments are accepted for iSURE related charges (application fee and program fee). The credit card does not have to be under the applicant’s name.

签证相关：

Visa

Upon acceptance into the program, the University of Notre Dame’s International Student and Scholar Affairs office will issue the Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility required to apply for an F-1 student visa. Students are responsible for paying for the visa application and SEVIS fees.

Air Travel and Transportation to Notre Dame

Program participants may choose to fly into Chicago's O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or the South Bend International Airport (SBN).

If you fly into Chicago O'Hare International Airport, you may take the CoachUSA airport shuttle bus that arrives at Notre Dame campus by the bookstore. The shuttle bus stop is located outside the arrival lobby at Terminal 5 (the international terminal). Click here to see departure times for the bus and plan which bus you can take after you land and go through customs and immigration. Check with the bus driver to make sure the final destination is Notre Dame. Please note there is a one-hour time difference between Chicago (Illinois) and Notre Dame (Indiana). You do not have to purchase the ticket in advance. You can board the bus and pay by cash or credit card on the bus ($42 one way).

If you fly into the South Bend International Airport, you can take a taxi outside of the arrival lobby to come to campus (estimated fare is $15-20).
