IMPORTANT STUDENT VISA UPDATE
Dear colleague,
We hope you are doing well.
We would like to bring to your attention an important update from the UK Home Office regarding the Student Visa (Student Route).
Starting 11 November 2025, the amount of money students must show as proof of maintenance funds will increase. This means that any student applying for a UK Student Visa on or after this date must meet the new financial requirements.
New Maintenance Requirements
• Studying in London (London Campus): £1,529 per month (up to 9 months)
• Studying outside London (Sunderland Campus): £1,171 per month (up to 9 months)
Example of Total Funds Required
• London: £1,529 × 9 months = £13,761
• Outside London: £1,171 × 9 months = £10,539
What Students Should Do
If a student plans to apply for a UK Student Visa on or after 11 November 2025, they must ensure that:
1. Their bank statement reflects the updated amount of funds required.
2. The money has been held in their account for at least 28 consecutive days before applying for their CAS and visa.
3. They plan ahead to meet these new requirements and avoid any visa delays or refusals. Make the necessary adjustments to their funds as soon as possible to allow them to mature for the full 28-day period.
If they are able to submit their visa application before 11 November 2025, the current lower maintenance amounts will continue to apply.
If the student is from a region where proof of funds is not required a CAS and visa application, these new rules will not apply.
If you are unsure which rules apply in their case, please refer to the official guidance
