不要求提供GRE成绩的学校是什么样儿的

这类学校对GRE的要求中通常不会对申请者交GRE或者不交GRE有任何的偏向，比如约翰霍普金斯大学工学院的申请要求就说得非常清楚：交了也不会看作录取优势，不交也不会对录取产生负面影响。

This only applies to graduate applications for the following start terms: Spring 2021, Summer 2021, and Fall 2021. For those applicants that have GRE scores ready, we will accept them. Please note, there will be no admissions advantage in submitting GRE scores. Likewise, there will be no disadvantage to any applicant for not submitting GRE scores.
看到这样的表述，我们就可以判断，交不交GRE都没什么意义，根据自己的时间精力觉得是否提交即可。
有些学校没有明确表示交或不交对申请有什么影响，只是比较简短地告知GRE并不在必交材料清单之内，比如加州大学伯克利分校的电气工程和计算机科学系是这么表述的：
The Berkeley EECS Department has made a department-wide decision that the GRE Exam is not required for applications for Fall 2021 admission, although it may be included.
像这样的表述，大家就要自行判断是否要提交GRE来增加哪怕一丝的录取可能性，在这种情况下，有时间和精力的同学还是可以加把劲把GRE交上的。
2 、强烈建议/鼓励提交
关键词Encourage/Recommend
这类学校虽然表示GRE成绩not required，但是同时又encourage或recommend申请者交，那说明交了对录取是有帮助的！
可能这个帮助占比没法和必须要求GRE的时候相比，但相比没有提交GRE的申请者，提交了GRE就是一项优势。比如莱斯大学机械工程专业的研究生申请要求是这么说的：
GRE general test scores taken within the last five years. (Note: For the fall 2021 application cycle the GRE is optional but still strongly recommended when possible.)
3、完全不接受
Not Accept
这类学校是特例，有个别比较傲娇的学校不要求GRE的同时表示即便交了也不审核、不接受，干脆就让申请者别交。比如斯坦福大学机械工程专业的研究生申请要求是这么说的：
The GRE will not be accepted for applications received during the period September 2020-June 2021. We ask that you do not submit or reference GRE scores in your application, as they will not be considered.
再比如威斯康星麦迪逊大学的研究生院申请要求是这么说的：
The Admissions Committee will NOT require GRE test scores to be submitted for any Fall 2021 applications, and will not take into consideration any submitted GRE test scores in our review process.
明确表示不会把GRE考虑在内，别提交，交了也不接受，那我们就完全不需要提交GRE了，交也算浪费金钱。
