Every inch of shelf space in my study is crammed with books on complex mazes, a tour puzzle in the form of a complex branching passage through which the solver must find a route. Since childhood, my mind has always slid into the world of maze solving, analyzed mathematically and also often used in psychology experiments. For one thing, I developed a lasting interest in mathematics—a math problem is nothing but an intricate but fascinating maze. Undoubtedly, discovering different routes sometimes leads into ‘graves’. However, undergoing things like hesitating when coming to crossroads, drooling over going well, losing spirits when meeting traps that pert me from the correct path and lead me to the starting point, I profit thereby.

Moreover, despite the limited extent of my mathematics at present, it enters into many places of my life. An open mind, independent thinking as well as my strong logic analysis ability related to systematic mathematics knowledge play a key role in organizing extracurricular activities. During the school sports meeting, after an effective market survey, I did a data analysis on a variety of snacks to be on sale, also different suppliers. Surprisingly, considering the high cost of transportation and assurance for the food quality, purchases from the supermarkets seem more cost-effective than those on-line. It eventually turned out a big success.

       I have determined on carrying out a further study majoring in mathematics, where my sincere interest lies. The Department of Mathematics in UChicago, opening in October of 1892, is dedicated to maintaining a leadership position in mathematics education and research. Out of question, UChicago is my superior alternative.
