I have to say, primary school math class had a really positive effect on me. It taught me nothing is as hard as it seems, and you can achieve anything as long as you put your mind to it.
I used to be really slow in math, it’s like I just didn’t have it in me to learn this subject. I mean, we all know that primary school math is pretty simple, right? But even so, I could barely pass the exam.
Luckily, I had a super nice math teacher who never gave up on me, and she even worked overtime to help me with my homework.
At that time, we were learning the multiplication table. I just had a hard time memorizing it. You might wonder how hard can it be, it’s just 1 times 1 equals 1, 2 times 2 equals 4, and things like that, but it is actually pretty hard for a 7-year-old kid. My teacher made some flash card for me to practice it. And gradually, I realized I could get more questions right, and my speed increased dramatically. So I became more and more confident in myself. And surprisingly, math started to grow on me.
I couldn’t imagine what I would become if I didn’t overcome this difficulty. I might completely give up on myself and lose interest in all the subjects that seemed hard at first.
