Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

The MEd(TESOL) has been designed for educational professionals seeking to develop their expertise and understanding in the areas of applied linguistics and language education, particularly in the teaching of English.

Students are encouraged to explore a range of issues relating to language teaching and learning, applied linguistics and sociocultural contexts of education. As well, the program develops themes and examines theories and research relating to the practical issues of language teaching and learning in a second-language environment.

All of the teaching staff are TESOL specialists, who have academic and professional qualifications in TESOL along with many years of professional experience.

Course structure

Master’s candidates are required to complete eight units of study, including:

· at least four core units; and 

· one capstone unit; and 

· no more than two units from outside the TESOL designation.

Graduate Diploma candidates are required to complete six units of study, including:

· at least four core units; and 

· no more than one unit from outside the TESOL designation.

Graduate Certificate candidates are required to complete four units of study, including:

· at least two core units.
