生物技术被运用于制药、农业、医疗保健、环境、能源、国家安全在内的多个行业，它涵盖了从研发实验室、产品开发、制造到销售、营销、金融和法律的各个角色。约翰霍普金斯大学这个强大的研究生课程提供专业和选修课程，从而获得符合职业抱负的学位。

课程包括4门必修+6门选修（细分方向不同课程不同）

西北大学的生物技术硕士课程（MBP）以独特的方式融合了生物技术科学、工程和商业。学生接受严格的研究培训（总共至少 1,000 小时）。为学生在生物技术和相关专业的充实和充满活力的职业生涯做好准备。广泛的实验室研究、综合课程、当前行业实践培训以及在商业中脱颖而出所需的软技能，使毕业生能够解决并引领医疗保健、工业生物技术、生物燃料、清洁技术等领域的进步。

8 Units of Research 研究 

这是该项目的特色，占课程40%左右。学生可以选择适合自己兴趣的研究项目及实验室，并专注其中，锻炼学生的批判性思维，学术交流，沟通技巧，演讲能力，学术报告，甚至论文发表。 

7 Units of Required Courses 必修课 

· 1 unit of introductory engineering (for non-engineers) (MBIOTECH 303) 

· 2 units of bioprocess engineering (MBIOTECH 476-1 & MBIOTECH 476-2/or Chem Eng 477) 

· 1 unit of laboratories (MBIOTECH 402) 

· 3 units of non-technical courses (MBIOTECH 410, MBIOTECH 420, & MBIOTECH 482) 

6 Units of Electives 选修课: more than 70 technical and non-technical electives offered by departments and programs of Northwestern University (including the Kellogg School of Management), in the fields of biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical and biological engineering, genetics, genomics, material sciences, regulatory affairs, statistics, tissue engineering, management, and more. Electives must be related activities performed at a Biotech company. 

Minors and certificates辅修或证书：除满足以上毕业所修学分外，学生还可以“免费”选择辅修方向（Engineering Management, Entrepreneurship, Synthetic Biology）及证书(Graduate Certificate in Nanobiotechnology) 来提升自己所在领域的知识和技能。
