2full-timePhDresearchassistantships(RA)inComputerEngineering,startingfromFall2023semester(opentillfilled)areavailableintheDepartmentofElectrical&ComputerEngineering,theUniversityofMassachusettsLowell.TheseRApositionsaretoworktowardsPhDdegreesunderthementorshipofDr.TriciaChigan(http://faculty.uml.edu/Tricia_Chigan/),whoisarecipientoftheNationalScienceFoundationCAREERAward.Dr.ChiganregularlyservesastheTechnicalProgramCommittee(TPC)memberforleadingIEEEconferencesincludingINFOCOM,ICC,GLOBECOM,andWCNC.Currently,shealsoservesastheAssociateEditorofIEEETransactionsonIntelligentTransportationSystems.
ThefocusresearchareasincludeVehicularAdHocNetworks(VANETs)-enabledMachineLearningforIntelligentAutonomousVehicles,CyberSecurityforEdgeComputingandIoTs,Drone-basedWirelessSensorNetworkforUndergroundSituationAwareness,CyberSecurityforConnectedandAutonomousVehicles,andIntelligentCognitiveRadiobasedNetworks&ItsSecurity.TheseresearchprojectsaresponsoredbyNationalScienceFoundation(NSF),USArmy’sCommunicationsResearchandDevelopmentCenter(CERDEC),USArmyResearchLab(ARL),DepartmentofEnergy(DOE),andindustrypartners.
Qualifications
ApplicantsshouldpreferablyhavebothMSandBSdegreesinElectricalEngineeringorComputerEngineering/Science,AppliedMathematics,orControl&Automationorothercloselyrelatedfields,andthefollowingqualifications:
Solidmodeling&simulationaswellasprogrammingskillsarerequired.
Goodbackgroundknowledgeandakeeninterestinoptimizationalgorithms,datamining,artificialintelligence,andmachinelearningaredesired.
Strongmotivation/determination/interesttowardresearchisexpected.
Goodresearch/publicationrecordisaplus.
