此外杜伦的音乐专业细分了5个方向：
① Musicology (P1)
② Ethnomusicology (P2)
③ Composition (P3)
④ Performance (P4)
⑤ Music and Science (P5)
不同细分方向的材料要求也不一样，理论专业需要提交2000字essay，表演和作曲专业则需要提交作品集。
具体要求请参考：
❶ One sample of written work (2,000 words) on a musicological topic, broadly defined, should be sent as a PDF. This can be an extract from longer pieces of coursework, but should be edited appropriately. Where possible, the topic and approach of your submitted work should match your chosen pathway (for example, an ethnomusicological essay for the Ethnomusicology pathway).
❷ Applicants wishing to take the composition pathway with the modules Compositional Techniques (MUSI40430) and Composition Portfolio (MUSI42560) should be aware of the requirement to satisfy the following prerequisite: We require evidence of standard at least equivalent to a strong 2:1 degree final-year composition portfolio. A portfolio of at least two contrasting works of at least ten minutes total duration must be submitted to demonstrate that the applicant is of the required level.
❸Applicants wishing to take the performance pathway, with the module Performance Project (MUSI42660), must satisfy the following prerequisite: We require evidence of standard at least equivalent to a strong 2:1 degree final-year performance recital. A video recording of no less than 10 minutes must be submitted to demonstrate that the applicant is of the required level.
布里斯托大学的音乐专业（MA Music）有单独院校背景名单，均分要求80-87不等。音乐专业也分了5个不同方向① Composition
② Medieval Music
③ Musicology
④ Performance
⑤ Russian Music.
与杜伦大学不同的是，布里斯托大学音乐学在申请时要额外回答5个问题来考核学生的论文能力，每个问题回答150-250字。作曲与表演方向同样还需要提供作品集。

❶ Performance pathway:
Please provide online video performances of two contrasting pieces, totalling no more than 15 minutes. Videos should be uploaded and made accessible to the reviewers online on either of the following standard formats:YouTube/ Dropbox. Links for these should be included in the application; please upload the links in an additional document. Please note that we will not be able to review your application until we receive links to your online video performances.
❷ Composition pathway （no more than 3 pieces and a total playing time of 15 minutes）
Instrumental / vocal work
* Two or three recent written scores for contrasting mediums.
* Live workshop or concert recordings of the above where available. (Synthesised demos are not encouraged, but may be substituted if a live recording is not available.)
Electronic and mixed media work if applicable
* Electroacoustic composition, for example acousmatic music, presented as a recording.
* Mixed-media concert works, such as for instrument/voice and tape or live electronics. Include the written score and a performance recording, as above.
* Film track or music-theatre work. Include the written score (if applicable), a video recording, and a statement indicating what component of the creative work is your own.
