 香港大学（The University of Hong Kong），简称“港大（HKU）”，是中国香港的一所国际化公立研究型大学，通常被认为是亚洲具有名望的大学之一，有亚洲“常春藤”之称。校训为“明德格物”，对应拉丁文为Sapientia Et Virtus。 

 香港大学奠基于1910年3月16日，次年3月30日正式注册成立，其前身为香港西医书院，是香港历史最悠久的高等教育机构。建校初期，香港大学规模极小，自1912年3月11日正式开学，到1916年12月举行首次毕业典礼，仅有23名毕业生。1948年4月9日后，学校秩序重建与结构转型并举，步入高速发展的黄金时期。

Candidates may be invited to take a qualifying examination and attend an interview.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Current or former English teachers in public/private schools, or those with non-teaching professional experience in language and linguistics related areas, including corpus linguistics, translation, language learning technology, discourse analysis, media, or literature. 

现任或前任公立/私立学校的英语教师，或在语言和语言学相关领域(包括语料库语言学、翻译、语言学习技术、话语分析、媒体或文学)具有非教学专业经验的教师。 

THE MAJOR AIMS

The MAAL curriculum aims to develop candidates’ understanding of: 

· Key concepts, theories and research related to applied English or cross-language linguistics 

· Knowledge of a wide range of perspectives on the theory, policy and practice of applied linguistics; 

· Capacity to analyse, synthesize and evaluate primary and secondary sources of research in English and applied linguistics; 

· Ability to investigate a specific field of study in depth and carry out research in the field. 

MAAL课程旨在培养考生对以下方面的理解: 

与应用英语或跨语言、语言学相关的关键概念、理论和研究； 

对应用语言学理论、政策和实践的广泛视角的知识; 

分析、综合和评估英语和应用语言学研究的第一手和二手资料的能力; 

能够深入研究特定的研究领域，并在该领域开展研究。

To fulfill the programme requirements, participants have to complete 5 core courses (30 credits – 6 credits per course), then select from the ‘dissertation’ or ‘portfolio’ capstone options. The programme involves a minimum of 300 hours of prescribed work.
