PS的页数限制和Optional Essays的要求。将近一半的学校要求或建议申请者将PS字数控制在2页以内。这里的两页要求了double-page,11的字符大小,1英尺以上的页边距。这样的两页大概是900字左右。值得注意的是,大多数的学校都明确说明了PS不应该直接重复自己的简历内容,而是要讲一个故事。

l Personal Statement:Enclose a statement of about two pages sharing important or unusual information about yourself.

l The personal statement:It should demonstrate your contribution to the Law School community beyond academics and should demonstrate your ability to communicate your thoughts effectively.
There is no page limit, but we generally find 2-4 pages to be sufficient. If it is longer, make sure it is absolutely necessary and really interesting. We do not have any formatting rules with respect to spacing, font type, font size, or margins.
Additional Essays:You may submit additional essays to highlight particular topics you wish to bring to our attention. Please remember you want to be concise and genuine.
Examples of types of additional essays include Diversity Statements and explanations of undergraduate and/or standardized test performance.
Diversity Statement :Diversity of the University of Chicago Law School community (e.g., based on your culture, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, ideology, age, socieconomic status, academic background, employment, or personal experience).
4. Columbia Law School:Early Decision- November 15, 2020 ;Regular Decision- February 15, 2021
Personal statement:While there is no official page limit, a good guideline is two double-spaced pages, using readable fonts and margins.
Your personal statement/essay should be a clear and concise example of your best writing. It should also be free from spelling and grammatical errors.
Addendum:Some examples include diversity statements, statements of strong interest in Columbia Law School, explanations of undergraduate and/or LSAT/GRE performance, etc.
5. NYU law School :Early Decision- November 15;Regular Decision- February 15
We leave the content and length of your statement to your discretion.
You may wish to complete or clarify your responses to items on the application form, bring to our attention additional information you feel should be considered, describe important or unusual aspects of yourself not otherwise apparent in your application, or tell us what led you to apply to NYU School of Law
6. UPenn:Round 1-December 1;Round 2-January 15(Application file must be completed with all required documents by March 15)
l Personal Statement:The Admissions Committee requires that every applicant submit an original example of written expression.
You may wish to describe aspects of your background and interests—intellectual, personal and/or professional—and how you will uniquely contribute to the Penn Law community and/or the legal profession. Please try to limit your statement to two pages, double-spaced, as a suggested length.
Optional Essays:You may answer more than one essay topic if you so choose. Include your name and LSAC account number on each page. Please limit any optional essay to one page, double-spaced and title it appropriately.
7. Duke Law School:Early Decision application-November 6, 2020 (Round I);January 8, 2021 (Round II);Regular Decision-February 15
l Personal Statement
(1) what you think have been your significant personal experiences beyond what may be reflected in your academic transcripts and on your résumé.
(2) your personal and career ambitions.
Optional Essays
You are invited to supplement your personal statement with either or both of the following optional essays.
(1) why you have chosen to apply to law school in general and Duke in particular.
(2) How an applicant may contribute to the diversity of the Law School based on the candidate’s experiences, achievements, background, and perspectives.
8. Northwestern University:February 15, 2021
l You may discuss, among other topics, personal or professional goals, or your personal, academic, or career history
9. UC Berkeley School of Law:Early Decision- November 15;Regular Decision- February 15
Personal Statement :A personal statement is required of all applicants. The statement can be up to four double-spaced pages. There is no required topic for the statement. It is your opportunity to describe the subjective qualities that you will bring to the study of law at Berkeley.
Some of these factors include leadership potential, integrity and accountability, intellectual curiosity, determination in the face of adversity, problem-solving skills, resiliency, motivation, compassion, creativity, and the ability to relate well with people. Implicit in the value of a Berkeley Law degree is the caliber of our classroom dialogue. That dialogue is a function of the voices that comprise the class.
10. Cornell Law School:Early Decision application- November 1
(Round I);January 8 (Round II);Regular Decision- March 1
The topic of the personal statement is up to you. We suggest that you approach the personal statement as your opportunity to present personal information about yourself that you would discuss during an interview. Your statement will be evaluated for both content and construction, so write about something interesting and write about it well.
11. Georgetown University :Early Decision- February 1, 2021;Regular Decision- March 1, 2021
l Personal Statement:Georgetown Law does not have a minimum or maximum length for the personal statement, though we recommend around two pages double-spaced.
Optional Diversity Statement:Georgetown prides itself on actively recruiting students from diverse backgrounds. We encourage you to attach a brief statement to help the Admissions Committee understand the contribution your personal background would make to our community.
