I hope you, your family, and your colleagues are doing OK in these challenging times.
As you may know, New Zealand has moved to alert level 4, which is essentially the closure of all non-essential businesses and instruction that all members of the public (outside of essential services) must remain at home. I appreciate there are many countries who have been in this state for some time.
We continue to adapt to working in a new environment, and many of us are looking at ways in which we can still connect with you and your agency, and our students through online platforms.
There is of course, a need to also keep in touch with people on a personal level to make sure they are feeling supported and have as much reassurance as possible during such an uncertain time. I can only begin to appreciate the number of enquiries you will be receiving and managing from anxious students. We thank you for all your hard work, guidance and support you have provided to date and will continue to provide.
At the University, we continue to look for ways to adapt our offerings to an online environment, to offer as many options as possible to our students. For A trimester, we expect to be online from 30 March (all face-to-face teaching was suspended for this week following the announcement from the Prime Minister). We continue to plan for what our future intakes may look like and what options will be available to our students. We will of course, share any details as they are known to us.
I acknowledge many of you have had to swiftly rethink how you continue to operate in our current climate, particularly with the cancellation of all face-to-face fairs and events over the spring period. I know many of you have or will run online fairs, webinars etc. and we are keen to be involved in these types of initiatives where possible. If you could let me know any details of what your agency is doing or planning to do, that would be greatly appreciated.
A big thank you to those who have already reached out and arranged for us to be involved in online activities.
If you have any other ideas on how we can continue to support you, or if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Our whole team is working from home and is available via WeChat, email or phone.
