加拿大Digital Media硕士专业解析-新东方前途出国

  在开设数字媒体硕士的院校中，最知名的是CDM的硕士项目，目前是归属于加拿大的西蒙菲莎大学，也就是SFU，也是咨询最多的。其他在硕士阶段还开设Digital Media专业的院校还有：位于多伦多市的瑞尔森大学Ryerson University，另一所位于多伦多市的约克大学York University。

  我们先看下SFU-CDM数字媒体硕士信息。CDM位于加拿大温哥华市的 Great Northern Way Campus（GNWC）校区。GNWC 校区是加拿大首屈一指的学术合作项目，它由加拿大 BC 省四所著名的公立高等教育机构联合创办。这四所学术合作院校分别是：英属哥伦比亚大学（UBC）、 西蒙菲沙大学（SFU）、 埃米莉•卡尔艺术与设计大学（Emily Carr University of Art + Design）以及不列颠哥伦比亚理工大学（BCIT）。CDM还是工业工作室的所在地，并举办各种行业和专业发展活动。加拿大数字媒体中心致力于培养影视动画、电子游戏、互动媒体、数字学习和虚拟现实等领域的下一代业界领军人物。该项目是为期16个月的课程项目。是国际认可的，具有研究意义且与行业相关的专业研究生课程，旨在使学生参与数字媒体产品的开发。数字媒体硕士课程和其他类似硕士课程的核心区别在于通过项目课程进行体验式学习。实际上，MDM课程的65％是基于项目的。

  一般情况下，授课时间是4个学期，每个学期是4个月的时间。具体的时间安排如下：

Term 1： runs September - December

Term 2 ：runs January - April

Term 3 ：runs May - August

Term 4 ：runs September - December

  其中，第四学期是要做一个4个月的internship，学生需要确保与数字媒体相关的工作并获得真实的经验。还可以选择通过实习延续将实习期延长至8个月。再延长后的4个月就是第五个学期。

  关于录取的要求如下：

   1，本科学位：申请人必须完成与数字媒体相关领域的所有4个CDM合作机构都能接受的4年制本科学位（或同等学历），例如：计算机科学，工程学，教育，管理，经济学，通信，艺术，设计或表演艺术，艺术史，建筑学，语言学，心理学或哲学。

    注意：如果从其他相关学科申请，则申请人必须说明他们持有其先前学位的学科与该计划之间的关系，以及他们如何从MDM计划中受益。

  2，本科应届或者往届学生需要大三大四的成绩满足B+的要求。百分制是76%及以上。或者在大三大四的专业学习领域的12个学分达到80%及以上的水平。

  3，语言的要求是：

   托福：Minimum score of 100 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), with no less than a score of 20 in each category.

   雅思：Minimum score of 7 on the International English Language Test System (IELTS - the academic NOT the general test) with a minimum of 6.5 in all sections.

   语言达不到的情况下，可以考虑Pre-MDM的项目。 国际学生的学费大致是在59000加币左右。

   那么，我们再来看看位于多伦多市另外两所大学，瑞尔森大学Ryerson University和约克大学York University专业开设情况。

      Ryerson  University瑞尔森大学的数字媒体硕士是为期12个月的课程，旨在为毕业生提供在进入数字媒体世界时所需的技能和行业经验。缺少了CDM的Digital Media的最后一个学期的internship。官方给出的研究领域主要包括以下几个方面：

  学校在申请背景的要求方面，对于本科的学习专业给出了划分：Post-secondary education in the areas of engineering, business, multimedia, science, media production, graphics, fine arts, art history or design will be particularly useful. Previous digital media, programming education.

  关于作品集的要求如下：Portfolio:

Applicants must demonstrate that they have the necessary background to pursue intensive work in a production-oriented digital media program. A portfolio of your work will be required.The portfolio should demonstrate your proficiency in your area of specialization or knowledge, whether your background is in business, creative or technical industries.The portfolio may include but is not limited to: video, film, animation, photography, prototype, design, programming code or business planning.The portfolio may be submitted in text, as a digital media product or a combination of both.Applicants from a business background should list projects they were involved with and must demonstrate a strong expertise in business.Portfolio evaluation will be a critical component of the admissions process.

  最后，是约克大学York University的数字媒体硕士。The Program is jointly offered by the  Department of Computational Arts (CA), and the  Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS).该专业是由计算艺术系与电子工程和计算机科学系联系提供的学位，分别可授予Master of Arts，Master of Science和PhD博士学位。

  在培养方案方面，约克大学给出了这样的信息：Under close mentorship of faculty supervisors students may collaborate on artistic, technical, and/or theoretical projects such as the design and construction of interactive art and immersive environments; the implementation of participatory design, maker methods, physical computing, digital fabrication, wearable computing, and creative coding for the creation of novel digital forms; the expansion of procedural poetics into emerging virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality media; the application of expertise in audio-visual signal processing, vision science, machine learning, AI, and robotics toward new conceptions of responsive living environments; and other project–based research that integrates scientific investigation and creative expression into new critically computational futures.同样是跨学科的交叉研究方向。

Master of Arts与Master of Science的学位学制都是两年制。

   这三所学校在Digital Media的专业开设方面，虽然学制有所不同，申请的要求也各有细致的信息，但也是结合了每所学校的具体情况进行的课程设置与方案培养。单拎出来，无论是拿到哪所学校的录取offer，都是值得骄傲的。相同的是，他们对于本科阶段的计算机编程方面的要求和关注还是比较高的，国内很多申请者在关注Digital Media的时候，如果仅仅把这个专业当做一个艺术类专业来审视，那就大错特错了。在之前与国内艺术本科毕业生，及已经在英联邦国家就读过艺术类硕士的学生沟通，他们都给我提供了一些信息，比如，现在的就业市场也好，学校的申请录取也好，尤其是跨学科设置的专业，学校更希望接受立体化，在某个分支领域专业的申请人，这也给我们提供了更高的要求。
