1.Shakespeare: His Life and Plays - Theatre/Drama/Literature 

Throughout his life, William Shakespeare wrote many types of plays(不同类型的戏剧). This book looks at several off the different plays he wrote, as well as his actual life(真实生活). It describes Shakespeare’s life from the early times in Stratford, then as an actor and dramatist(剧作家) in London, to his final years

2.Gladiator – History/Humanities/Cinema 

Based on the 2000 film. Gladiator is set during the times of the ancient Romans(古罗马). It follows a man named Maximus, a former Roman general(将军) who has found his way into slavery and is somehow seeking revenge(复仇) on the emperor(皇帝) who took away his family. However, during this process, he is forced into(被迫进入) the world of the gladiators(角斗士), where he must fight in order to survive.

3.About a Boy – Literature/Cinema 

Novel based on the 2002 film. A rich and care-free(无忧无虑的) man named Will, has decided that he wishes to date(约会) single mothers. To do this, he concocts a scheme(策划一个计划) where he invents having a child of his own just so he can attend single parent(单亲) meetings. The story follows Will along with another boy named Marcus. Drama happens throughout this coming of age story where both Will and Marcus realize in the end what’s required of them.

4. Inventions that Change the World- Science/History 

A book that looks at several inventions(发明) and discoveries(发现). It looks at things like paper, printing,(印刷) mathematics(数学), and more. It attempts to examine their earliest history and shows their progress throughout the ages(各个时代).

5.The Godfather – Cinema/Literature 

The Godfather is a novel that follows the actions of a man named Michael Corleone, whom is the youngest son of a criminal(犯罪) boss. He starts off not wanting any part of it, but later is thrown into(被扔进) that type of world, and so begins to run(经营) the family. He goes through many betrayals(背叛) and learns that he can only trust a few. His real struggle(挣扎) though, relates to his actual family and how his actions have an effect on them
