Dear student,
Hope you and your family are well under the current environment.
Our database indicates that you are holding a conditional place for a programme starting at University College Birmingham in this September. I am writing to update you of any measures we have done so far in order to prepare you to join our University.
2020 academic year - calendar
We have decided to start the academic year one week later than originally planned, with enrolment/Orientation now taking place in the week commencing on 21 September 2020, Induction sessions starts on 28 September and teaching beginning on 5 October 2020. The last day to enrol will be on 19 October 2020.
2020 academic year - teaching
We are currently planning to be teaching on campus from October, in the usual way. As you know situation is changing quickly, and so we will review it in late August and will let you know if there is any update. Please find enclosed a list of courses that we can offer through online study mode in September with a list of questions and answers that you may have in mind.
Your conditional offer
At present, we are waiting either for your examination results, English or other documents in order to confirm your offer therefore, please check your offer letter for the conditions required. If you have met the conditions, please scan your documents to southeastasia@ucb.ac.uk so we can update your offer status.
If your offer involves English requirement, please note we will offer a 10 weeks Online pre-sessional English course starting on 22 June until 28 August. Please note you don't need to have any English qualification (such as IELTS, TOEFL..etc) to join and the internal assessment results can be used for joining UCB courses starting in September 2020, Jan or September 2021 intake. Please find enclosed the course details in Chinese and English versions for your information.
Your intention
As mentioned earlier, we prepare to teach as normal in September however, if the situation changes then online teaching will be available. If you prefer to attend a full time teaching in campus, please note majority of our undergraduate degree and all master courses can be started in Jan 2021 intake. Therefore, it would be useful if you can inform me your preference so we can well prepared to meet your need.
