Greetings from the University of Birmingham!

Following on my last update, we have confirmed more details regarding the Pre-sessional English courses and also made changes to the Postgraduate programmes at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Please see below for the details:

English requirements for Foundation, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programmes (direct entry):

The details of the acceptable English qualifications and the entry requirements for direct entry to all levels of study have been updated on the website. Please see the links below for details:

Entry requirements for Presessional English courses:
Due to the impact of COVID-19 on test centres, the following English language qualifications are also accepted for Presessional English courses taken ONLINE or for when an INTERGRATED CAS can be issued:

IELTS Academic (non-UKVI)

Pearson Academic

TOEFL

Duolingo

CET-6 (Postgraduate only)

Please note:

·         Applicants submitting the CET-6 qualification will need to take an additional speaking test administered by the BIA. Applicants who submit a CET-6 will be advised further on the test process.

·         The compressed 12-week and 4-week Presessional courses have now been cancelled. Students who have received the offer for the two courses will be contacted to transfer to the online 15-week and 6-week courses. Students don’t need to apply separately.

Postgraduate programmes at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences are now reopen:

All Postgraduate programmes at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences are now reopen for applications. All the applications submitted after the previous deadlines are now being processed, and new applications will be processed as normal.  Please see the list of previously closed/suspended programmes that are reopen now. All the other programmes stay open for new applications.
