Pre-sessional English Courses at Kent

If your application is still Conditional upon reaching the required English language level, we would like to draw your attention to our Pre-sessional English courses which run throughout the year.

These courses have been specially designed to prepare you for your studies at the University of Kent and to help you to further develop essential academic skills. Some of the essential academic skills that are covered in the courses are skills relating to writing and reading, listening to lectures, note-taking, listening in the general academic environment, finding and using research, referencing skills appropriate to your programme of study, application of critical thinking skills, speaking in seminars and giving academic presentations.

The course will also help to familiarise yourself with the campus and various facilities such as the library, and to adjust academic life before your main programme of study commences. To further familiarise yourself with University life, you can choose to stay on campus during the Pre-sessional.

When you successfully pass the Pre-sessional course you will be guaranteed accommodation for your main course of study, and you will also be eligible to receive the University’s 2% extended early bird fee payment discount for your main programme if you chose to pay you full tuition costs by 5th September 2017. You will also be able to attend a bespoke Pre-Registration and Payment day for your main programme to help you beat the long queues at arrivals weekend!
