Dear Student,
You are receiving this email because you are registered on an ELTC programme at the University of Sheffield. This email is about Visa Extension support because most students’ visas will expire in October 2016 or November 2016. You must read this email if you have a Tier 4 (general) student visa which will expire in October 2016 or November 2016.
If your current visa is a “Short-Term Study” visa, you must be aware that you CANNOT extend or switch to another visa category from inside the UK.
As you will be making your Tier 4 visa application soon, it is a good idea to start to transfer the funds that you will be required to show into your bank account now, as your bank statements must show that you have held a minimum balance of these funds for at least 28 consecutive days.
You will need to show maintenance plus unpaid tuition fees for the first year of your course. Attached to this e-mail is a flowchart which will help you calculate the maintenance that you will be required to show. ELTC students will need to show £9,135 plus outstanding tuition fees.
However, we recommend that all students hold a minimum balance of £9,135 plus unpaid tuition fees for 28 consecutive days and to keep this as a minimum balance until your visa has been issued by the Home Office if possible. If your application is refused or rejected and you do not get the decision letter until after the date your current visa has expired, you would then need to show £9,135 maintenance plus unpaid tuition fees to meet the requirements for making a fresh visa application.
Please note that if your tuition fees have been paid in full before you make your visa application, you will only need to show the maintenance in your bank account for 28 consecutive days.
