We are pleased you are considering studying at the University of Reading in September 2016!
To help with your decision and preparation, we wanted to let you know early that the University is planning a fantastic Welcome Programme to help you settle into life in Reading. More details on this programme will be sent to you during the summer.
As part of this programme the International Office will be running a Meet and Greet Service from Heathrow Airport.
The International Office Welcome Team will be at Heathrow to meet you from Friday 16 September until Sunday 18 September, from 07.00 – 20.00 each day. If you are interested in using this service then you will be able to register on our website.

Find it here!Early Arrival Accommodation Contract
It is important to book your accommodation before arriving in the UK.
If you are booking University accommodation and you are based outside the UK, we realise that you might need a little flexibility in arranging the date that you arrive at your hall. We are therefore offering you the option to choose a ‘new student early arrival contract’ at selected halls which will start on Sunday 11 September 2016. You don’t need to arrive on this exact date but by selecting this contract you have the flexibility to arrive between Sunday 11 September and the standard arrival date for your hall. When you make your accommodation application you should select the ‘new student early arrival contract’ option and you will be able to view the halls that are available. If you would like advice or more information on this then please email accommodationonline@reading.ac.uk or you can visit the Accommodation Webpages.
Immigration Advice Service
Information on immigration and healthcare is available. However, if you would like advice on the visa process then the University has a dedicated Immigration Advice Service for applicants: email immigration@reading.ac.uk if you have any questions.
If you are making your visa application from outside the UK and your visa will be valid for more than 6 months, you will need to select where you will collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) from. You can collect your BRP direct from the University of Reading. To do this you will need to use the unique ACL collection code in your visa application which will be provided to you when you are assigned a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number.
Due to recent UKVI policy changes, we would encourage you to apply for the longer version of your desired course, if possible. This will avoid you having to return home to apply for an extension to your visa if you decide that you want to extend your studies.
STaR Mentors
Before you arrive you will have the opportunity to talk to a STaR mentor. STaR mentors are current Reading students and can help you settle in by answering any questions you may have about moving to the UK and studying at Reading.
Find out more here.In the meantime if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the International Office on international@reading.ac.uk.
We hope to see you in September!
Best wishes
