You are required to choose a pathway which must be selected from the two pathways available, Classics or Ancient History. All assessed work, including the Dissertation, will be within the chosen pathway.

Optional modules
If you choose the Ancient History Pathway, you will take two optional modules worth 20 credits each; if you choose the Classics Pathway, you will take one optional module worth 20 credits, subject to the approval of the Degree Programme Director.
You usually take optional modules offered within the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, in the first instance choosing from:
*If you opt to pursue an Independent Research Project you will normally be permitted to undertake only one of these projects during the course of your Masters.
You may also choose your options from other modules offered in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, in particular the following Archaeology options:
