Credit transfer for Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration)
Due to Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) requirements, block credit for Year 1 of the course on the basis of overseas nursing qualifications and/or overseas nursing registration and work experience, will no longer be awarded.
Applicants who hold a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved Diploma of Nursing qualification or equivalent and hold current registration with NMBA as an enrolled nurse may be eligible for a maximum of 36 units of credit (one year of full-time equivalent study), providing this Diploma of Nursing or equivalent was completed within the past five years.
As a result of this change, some applicants may not get the full Year 1 credit previously expected and therefore the length of the course may not be shortened for the applicant.

What does this mean for existing and future applicants?
Current applicants who have accepted their 2021 offer
Applicants granted credit on the basis of their overseas registration and work experience will have their qualifications reviewed. If they are not registered as an Enrolled Nurse with the NMBA but hold a Diploma of Nursing or equivalent qualification completed within the last 5 years, we will be requesting course syllabus information to assess for maximum credit possible. Advice from ANMAC is that applicants who do not hold EN registration or have formal ANMAC approval are unlikely to receive a full year of credit.
Current applicants with an offer to commence in 2021 including one year of credit but yet to accept
As per above, applicants must hold current EN registration with NMBA to be eligible to receive one year of credit. If they are not registered as an Enrolled Nurse with the NMBA but hold a Diploma of Nursing or equivalent qualification completed within the last 5 years, you can provide course syllabus information for credit assessment, noting that applicants are unlikely to receive a full year of credit.
Future applicants yet to receive an offer
Applicants will be required to provide course syllabus information as part of the application process if they wish to be considered for credit. It is a requirement for applicants to have completed a Diploma of Nursing or equivalent qualification within the last 5 years, noting that applicants are unlikely to receive a full year of credit.
Course syllabus information will not be needed if the applicant has current EN registration with the NMBA.
Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry)
Applicants holding an overseas Bachelor equivalent degree in Nursing
If an applicant holds an overseas nursing degree which is not recognised for Registered Nursing registration with the NMBA, they are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry).
Existing applicants with a Nursing qualification equivalent to a Bachelor degree, will be issued an offer to the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry).
Subject pre-requisites
As previously advised, the course will require applicants to have successfully completed previous higher education study in human biology, physiology and anatomy. The requirement has now been changed from 9 units of study (0.25 FTE) to 4.5 units of study (0.125 FTE).
Should an applicant not meet these subject pre-requisites, they can complete one of:
English language requirements update
Applicants will be able to meet the English language requirements for the course through either a test or if English is their first language. Continuous education is not acceptable to meet the English language requirements for entry into the course. Therefore, the following are the acceptable methods:
·         Completion of at least 6 years of schooling (including 2 years of Secondary) in English in: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Canada, Ireland, UK; OR
·         Prior to course commencement the applicant is registered as an Enrolled Nurse with the NMBA; OR
·         English language test results of IELTS (Academic) of overall score of 7.0 with 7.0 in Writing, Speaking, Listening and Reading or the equivalent results in TOEFL iBT, Occupational English Test (OET) or Pearson English Test (PTE) (Academic).
We appreciate that these are significant changes and I would encourage to contact me or one of Flinders International team if you have any questions.
