Dear valued recruitment partners,
We are excited to announce that the University of Sydney will now accept Password Skills Solo testsfor students who are located in China or Iran to allow them to demonstrate their English language proficiency and gain entry to the University.
Currently, some of the English language proficiency test centres in China and Iran are closed due to public health concerns related to COVID-19. We understand this may have impacted many of your students and prevented them from taking the required tests to meet the English language requirements for their chosen course. As such, the alternative Password Skills Solo test is now available to these students.
Password Skills Solo is a three-hour test that can be taken at home on the students own personal computer. To ensure security and authenticity, the test is monitored by a human proctor online through ProctorU®. There are four test modules consisting of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The total cost for the test is AUD$245 and can be paid by credit card through the University of Sydney website.
If your student currently holds a conditional offer, and would like to secure an unconditional offer to study at the University of Sydney by sitting this English test via Password Skills Solo, they will need to register their Interest for Password Skills test via this website. Please ensure all students read the instructions carefully including what equipment is required. Once they have registered, our team will be in touch with them to guide them through the next steps. Kindly note that the test should be taken no later than 10 August 2020.
You can also check our website (see “Direct English language entry requirements”) on what score is required for students to meet our English language requirements.
Alternatively, students in China may also choose to sit in a PTE test as it is now available in China. IELTS and TOEFL iBT will also be resumed from 9 July and 11 July 2020 respectively in some cities across China.
Please note the University acceptance of this test is not related to any visa requirement. It is the students’ responsibility to check the Department of Home Affairs website for all visa related information.
