Review your personal learning plan by Wednesday 11 March

We're contacting you again regarding your personalised study plan as you need to let us know how you'll be studying with us in semester one by Wednesday 11 March.

You can confirm your flexible learning plan, or have the option to discuss your individual study arrangements.

Compassionate and hardship support package

Monash University will be offering support packages on compassionate and hardship grounds for students who have been directly affected by COVID-19.

Support packages of up to A$5000 may reimburse reasonable costs incurred in China, Iran or Australia by students associated with:
  • Cancellation or change of flights not able to be recovered through a travel insurance policy, or credited or refunded by an airline (reimbursement amounts will be limited to the reasonable equivalent of an economy class fare).
  • Accommodation, including costs to self-isolate and any lost accommodation costs including rental deposit or bond penalties.
  • Food and incidentals while in self-isolation.
  • Any basic technology needs that are necessary to allow students to study remotely through the fully flexible mode.

Eligibility

Monash University students who are eligible to apply for the compassionate and hardship support package are those who were directly affected by COVID-19 and the associated Australian Government travel bans, have enrolled at an Australian campus and have paid their semester one 2020 course fees.

Students who demonstrate they have endured exceptional circumstances may apply for an increased reimbursement amount beyond the A$5000 limit.

How to apply

Applications for compassionate and hardship support packages can be made between 14 April and 25 May via an online reimbursement form, which will be made available on 14 April.

Upon receipt of an application for reimbursement, Monash will assess the request and determine eligibility for payment of the compassionate and hardship support packages, at its absolute discretion. If you withdraw from your studies at Monash before 14 April 2020, you will not be eligible for any payment.
