学校介绍：

圣母大学，偶有杂志音译为诺特丹大学。始建于19世纪中期，经历了一个多世纪的辉煌，享誉全美，是一所私立天主教大学、研究型大学，位于美国印地安纳州圣的南本德。大学包括圣十字学院与圣玛莉学院两所罗马公教的文理学院。

圣母大学在2013年《USNEWS》全美大学排名中位居第17，在2012年《福布斯美国大学排行榜》中位居第12，2013年，其门多萨商学院（Mendoza College of Business）获美国《商业周刊》选为全美本科第一，是连续第4年获此殊荣。

圣母大学的医科先修班（Premedical Science Studies）也很出名，结业学生超过八成能入读美国其他大学医学院。商学院、法律学院、建筑学院亦是该校的强项，法律学院在伦敦设有修课中心，建筑学院在罗马亦设有上课中心，务求让学生兼具国际视野。

1.       College of Arts and Letters文学院

基本上所有的文科专业都在这个学院里面。A&L最强的专业是神学和Irish Study。

2.       College of Science理学院

专业有应用数学和统计、生物科学、化学和生物、环境科学、数学、物理、统计学。物理系的低能核物理方面貌似是全美领先的，现在学校里有两台加速器在做这方面的研究。读化学和生物的很多是pre-med，圣母大学入读医学院的录取率很高，吸引很多学生读pre-med。

3.       Mendoza College of Business门多萨商学院

很多人去圣母都是奔着商学院去的，商学院在美国的学术声誉度非常高。商学院规模较大，有2300名学生，包括会计学、金融学、管理学、信息系统、会计学硕士、非盈利组织管理学以及市场学。大学EMBA 世界排名第20名。圣母大学的校友网非常强大，100%的学生毕业后找到工作或者读研。

4.       College of Engineering工程学院

最好的专业是化学工程。

5.       School of Architecture建筑学院

建筑学院貌似是圣母学院最小的一个学院，加起来一共两百多人，小而精。建筑系最大的特色就是在大三的时候一定要去罗马呆一年，在那边学习欧洲的建筑。

所有进入圣母大学的学生，第一年都必须完成The First Year of Studies，所有大一新生课程内容都会包括：一个学期写作课和数学课，两个学期自然科学课，另外一个学期你可以从神学、哲学、历史、社会科学、艺术课程中选择一个。大学申请时可以写intended majoy,第二年结束前选定专业。另外学校还有咨询版块，如果需要的话，每个新生都会被安排一个同龄的顾问，来辅导你的学习。校方称，由于他们给大一新生提供的这些帮助，高达97%的学生顺利进入大学二年级。96%的学生可以6 年内毕业。

学生：在校生12004人，其中本科生8452人。100%的大一新生住校，80%的大二、大三、大四学生住校，可以四年都住校。

1. In your opinion, what is the difference between intelligence and wisdom? You may cite a historical or fictional example, or offer an illustration from your own experience.

2. The British philosopher, John Stuart Mill, states that “in an imperfect state of the human mind, the interest of truth requires a diversity of opinions.” Given that a plurality of voices is crucial to broadening our educational experiences and cultural awareness, what is one view that you hold—large or small—that would contribute to the variety of perspectives at Notre Dame?

3. Gary Gaffney, ’69MS, began doctoral work in mathematics at Notre Dame but left to become an artist, eventually earning two degrees in fine art. His poem “Mil Preguntas (a meditation in 1000 questions)” explores a myriad of topics, using queries both whimsical and profound. Some of our favorites are:
