    Targeting those interested in higher education administration in a college or university or in policy and planning at a higher education association or agency.

    Educating students interested in the development of children and adults and how knowledge of development can be applied to educational issues.

    Providing an environment for the investigation and discussion of practical approaches for improving the quality of education available to children from all backgrounds.

    Combining research and practice in reading, writing, and language development.

    Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.)  Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D.) The Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) prepares experienced educators for system-level leadership roles in school districts, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and beyond; and the Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D.) empowers cutting-edge interdisciplinary research informed by the cognitive sciences, economics, medicine, the humanities, and more.

    A complete application to the Ed.M. Program typically consists of the following:

    GRE

    TOEFL or IELTS (if applicable)​​

    *关于Statement of Purpose

    The statement should be no more than 1,500 words, typed and double-spaced. 

    Master of Education (Ed.M.) applicants only
    As a reminder, competitive candidates need not have prior direct experience in an education setting though should have a clear conception of why they're pursuing a master's degree in education.  In addition, "education” and “education-related" are broadly defined at HGSE and encompass all fields covered by the Ed.M. programs we offer.

     

    • Your background: What key experiences have contributed to your commitment to work in the field of education or with education-related issues?
    • Your objectives for graduate study: What are your academic and professional goals and what knowledge, skills, and tools are you hoping to develop through enrollment in a graduate program?
    • Why HGSE, and why this specific program (and strand within the program, if relevant): why is enrollment at HGSE, and in this master’s program/strand specifically, critical in helping you achieve your goals?
