初来乍到，Haileybury一帮一互助计划助新生无缝衔接本地生活

Q：International students may feel struggling with academic studies at school or other issues outside school. Does Haileybury have special help or caring programs for international students?

A: YES! Firstly, the International program coordinator and a group of teachers run special support programs with newcomers (e.g. providing extra EAL classes) in the first half year of enrolment. Secondly, we have “buddy program” in all our campuses. International students from higher year level will assist those new students whenever and wherever support is needed. Thirdly, student coordinators will visit every homestay to make sure new International students are satisfied with their current life in Melbourne.

答：新生入学的前半年，咱们Haileybury的国际学生部门会给新入学的留学生们提供非常多的支持，比如EAL英文基础课程等等。

不光如此，学校还有“Buddy Program”，所谓这个一帮一互助计划呢，学校会从高年级的国际留学生中挑选学生来帮助新入学的留学生，此外，国际学生部门的老师们会经常性的拜访孩子的Homestay家庭，保证孩子无论是在校内校外都能顺利的衔接到澳洲的生活中去。

Q: What kind of extra-curricular activities are available at Haileybury?

A: Hahahaha. This is a good question. You’d better ask what activities that Haileybury does not offer. At Haileybury, around 65 activities are running on a regular basis. Apart from those common school activities (e.g. sports and music), students at Haileybury are involved in debating, space experiment, chess club, cooking, etc. Haileybury run every single activity that parents and students having in their head.

Haileybury is the most diverse school in Victoria with students from 69 nations (according to enrolment information) all over the world. International students are mainly from mainland China, Vietnam, and sub-continental countries such as Sri Lanka.

Q: Could you please explain more about the ‘parallel learning’?

A: At Haileybury, with a strong financial support, from Year 5 to 12, boys and girls attend mostly single-sex classes. However, boys and girls take some elective classes together, such as music and sports, and they share school grounds (e.g. canteen) and socialise together.

The ‘parallel learning’ recognises the diverse educational needs of all students and the importance of boys and girls spending time together.

问：咱么能给大家解释一下，我们特有的平行式教育的特点么？

答：Haileybury的财力非常的雄厚，所以学生从5年级开始，绝大多数情况下，男生和女生开始分开上课，但是在音乐和体育等活动方面，以及平时的下课时间内，同学们之间还是有很多交流的机会。 

平行教育很好的识别不同年龄段不同性别，学生的需求，更好的设计教学内容以及改变教学方式，因地制宜，但同时呢，又给了同学们之间跟异性沟通交流的时间。
