    美国TOP 10工业设计研究生作品集格式要求一览

    Industrial Design

    1.    Rhode Island School of Design

Applicants are required to submit 10 to 20 examples of their work. Certain programs suggest more specific ideas or requirements for your portfolio. Those department requirements are outlined below the general portfolio instructions.

Your portfolio must be reproduced and may be submitted using Slideroom, an online portfolio submission service or as digital image files on a CD or DVD. Detailed instructions for using Slideroom are available on the site (risd.slideroom.com). Slideroom charges $10 for using this submission option.

If you choose to send your portfolio directly as digital files, each image should be submitted as a separate file in .jpg format. Individual file sizes should not exceed 3MB. Do not combine images in a prepared presentation or slideshow of any type (e.g., PowerPoint or Keynote). You should also include a printed thumbnail page of the images on your disk. Please do not affix any adhesive labels to your CD/DVD.

Time-based work or performance pieces may be submitted as QuickTime or.mpg files on a CD or DVD. You should include a work description sheet along with your CD. Number the examples you are submitting and on your description page list the corresponding number, medium, size, date of completion and title for each work. It is very important that your full name and address are clearly noted on your CD/DVD and your description and thumbnail pages.

    2.    Art Center College of Design

Submit a portfolio of work demonstrating your design abilities. The following are especially important:

Ability to make appropriate and human-centered designs

Ability to take a systems approach to design solutions, demonstrating an understanding of the context, business, technological and human-related aspects

Ability to write and communicate effectively

Ability to display an understanding of and experience with 3D form and design

Effective drawing and other visualization abilities

Demonstration of a great aesthetic design sensibility and ability—for style, proportion, shape, material, color, etc.

Ability to select important projects and identify real needs

Ability to research, investigate and analyze design topics

Ability to experiment, think laterally and engage in creative idea generation activities

Ability to provide solutions for real needs and problems and create value for the human condition; satisfy an aesthetic appetite for the creation of new market-driven style and products such as chairs, desk sets, most cars and designer teapots. Professional experience resulting in market-tested designs is preferred.

    The following formats are acceptable:

        Slideroom (Web-based).

Our preferred method for submission is through Slideroom. Upload your portfolio images at https://artcenter.slideroom.com. A nominal fee will be charged by Slideroom for this service. Full instructions are listed on their site. For general artwork, we recommend scanned images rather than photos for best resolution. Film applicants should provide a DVD; see below for details.

        Non-Returnable Printed Portfolio.

Maximum size limit is 11” x 17”, including the envelope or covering. This can include a presentation format or simply individual samples of the work. This format works well for the design disciplines in which presentation or project formats are appropriate. Copies of sketchbook can be included in this format along with the portfolio. Work will not be returned.

Mail with your name and address to: Admissions Office, Art Center College of Design, 1700 Lida St., Pasadena, CA 91103

    3.       Carnegie Mellon University

A portfolio of work representing recent professional, creative, and/or school work is required. Include 7-10 samples of your work that represent the strengths of your professional, creative and/or academic experience, such as design projects, writing samples, or summaries of other types of projects you have undertaken or collaborated on. You may use photographs, videos, writing, and/or interactive presentations to demonstrate your work.

For long works—theses, book designs, software applications—please select excerpts that best represent your strengths. For each piece submitted, include a brief description (1 paragraph) on content and context so that we get to know you better and understand your creative and problem-solving approaches. If you include a collaborative work, make sure to identify your contributions.

Your portfolio will be evaluated from multiple viewpoints including visual and/or verbal communication skills, critical/analytical thinking, craftsmanship, and creativity. We recommend you include at least one writing sample in your portfolio.

You must submit your portfolio as a website link. Be sure that your site functions correctly on multiple platforms.

    4.    Cranbrook Academy of Art

A portfolio of 20 examples of your recent work. Applicants will be required to provide title, date, materials, and dimension for each image/file uploaded to the section of the online application labeled Media. Instructions on acceptable file types will be provided during the upload process in Slideroom.

    5.    California College of the Arts

Applicants should submit their portfolio online by registering for a SlideRoom account specifically for CCA applicants. Once an account is registered, instructions on how to create the portfolio will be provided.

Your portfolio should consist of 20 to 25 examples, submitted via SlideRoom or your own website. Applicants may also submit a URL to present interactive and web-based design work. Discs and slides are not accepted.

In addition to academic and professional work, applicants are encouraged to include examples of personal work. CCA faculty reviews all submitted portfolios. (Note: Supplemental portfolio materials sent separately to the Admissions Office are reviewed at faculty discretion.) Do not submit work for which your participation was in a production capacity only. Your portfolio should include a description of each piece by number, title, completion date, your specific role in the design, and production of the piece, and any other relevant information.

The portfolio can include still images, time-based media, interactive media, or other creative visual pieces. It should contain a maximum of 25 JPG images (not to exceed 5MB each). A single JPG image may be composed to include process sketches or diagrams along with finished work. Label each file with your last name, the first letter of your first name, and the slide number (e.g., Doe_J_01.jpg).

Videos should include one 5-minute (or shorter) preview on SlideRoom. Up to two projects may be sent separately: on DVD (NTSC format only), a YouTube posting, or web URL. Please enclose a corresponding reel list identifying each work in order, with titles, running time, completion date, and any other relevant information.

Portfolios are due January 5, 2012. Once your portfolio has been uploaded and submitted to the college no further changes can be made. (Note: A $15 administrative fee is charged at the time you submit your portfolio using SlideRoom.)
